Stress and lack of sleep have gotten the best of me, so now I'm battling a cold. To fight back, I upped my defense this morning with a good 'ol smoothie:
1 orange
1 apple
1 small frozen banana
a handful of frozen strawberries
a handful of kale
Put in a blender until pureed.
I normally cringe at the thought of greens in a smoothie, but this time I really couldn't taste them! And I don't think that's because my head is stopped up - I taste a sweet sourness from the orange and strawberries. The coldness feels good on my sore throat, and I'm getting Vitamin C plus a bunch of other nutrients to help my immune system.
Green kale + red strawberries + orange = a murky orange-brown. In a picture, the color looked even worse. So rather than show you, let me just tell you this smoothie was delicious!

I will give this a shot! I am fighting a cold as well. My story is very similar to yours, I have managed to completely change my eating habits over the past year and lost over 80lbs in the process. I eat foods now that I never thought I would eat!! And now I am a green smoothie advocate, lol! I also enjoy researching how certain foods can affect our bodies. Take care!
ReplyDeleteI would also like the opportunity to talk or email with you about the mold issues. I believe that is part of my health problems as well. However, it would be nice to talk with someone who has had a similar situation. I know this is not the best place to post this but I am very new to this blogging thing, lol. Still trying to learn my way around.
ReplyDeleteLove your blog so definitely in my favourite.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen greens in smoothies but i'll probably try it cos it sounds good.

I need to try greens in my smoothies!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like a powerful smoothie. I know what you mean with the color. I'll see that you were exposed to mold. Our dog reacted badly to it when we moved to Texas. We are working on getting out of this house, but for now we manage to keep her health under control with essential oils and modified diet..As soon as it is a moist and humid day she reacts right away.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog! I will dig out the recipe..
I know exactly how your poor dog feels! After a rain, when everything is so wet, is the worst.
